The Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club is offering a summer training program for women in preparation for the Women's Distance Festival 5k.   The program provides the opportunity to improve fitness while learning about running in an encouraging, friendly and collaborative atmosphere.  

 

The training program is free for Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club members.  If you are not a member, you will be offered the opportunity to join the Steeplechasers when you sign up for the training program.   The club membership fee is only $20, and includes a host of benefits.  If you're not sure if you've joined or renewed with the Steeplechasers this year, you can check your membership status on our member page.

 

Our 5k training program is appropriate for both beginners/walkers and more experienced runners.  Our coaches will initially sort participants into appropriate groups, but the groups are very flexible and participants will be able to shift around as necessary over the course of the summer.

 

Training sessions are held Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings at 8:00 a.m. at the Baker Park gazebo in downtown Frederick. The Wednesday and Saturday sessions are structured runs with pace leader support. 

 

The 5k training program will begin on June 5th and will run for eight weeks. An info session will be held on June 3rd.
