Welcome to the Frederick Women's Distance Festival!
August 7, 2021
In-person racing is back! But we're also offering a virtual option for participants who are unable to run with us on race day, or who are more comfortable with the "Run Anywhere" approach.
Runners will be able to transfer between the virtual and in-person events as we all see how the situation develops in the coming months. In the unlikely event that the in-person race is canceled due to increased COVID concerns, we will provide the option to defer to 2022, or transfer to virtual.
Rest assured that we are developing detailed COVID safety plans upfront, so that we are able to define the appropriate approach as race day draws near.
3/28/2021 update: The city of Frederick has reopened the race permitting process and both Maryland and Frederick County have lifted specific restrictions on outdoor gatherings. We have SO much room in the FCC parking lots that we will have no problem with meeting social distancing guidelines with runner cooperation. We are also remeasuring/certifying the race course to separate the start/finish lines in order to accommodate a very spacious start staging area.
We are deeply grateful to McLaughlin Family Chiropractic,
our new PREMIER SPONSOR!
Net proceeds of the Frederick Women’s Distance Festival are donated to the Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick County. The Frederick Steeplechasers donated race proceeds of $21,095 from the 2020 race, bringing the total donated since 2010 to $157,834.
This is one of the best organized, most upbeat and happy races I run all year. It seems to be a very positive and encouraging atmosphere for runners (and walkers) at every level. The course is enjoyable, the course marshals are encouraging, the food and after-race experience is upbeat and the awards ceremony is prompt and fun. And I love the awesome custom awards and the cookies!!
